Will Johnson, a sophomore cornerback for the Michigan Wolverines football team, had knee surgery this offseason. As a result, he will need to recover and will be limited during fall camp. He played eight snaps against UNLV in Week 2, but he really hoped to be on the field for the season opener against East Carolina or the third game against Bowling Green. However, the idea has always included easing into the season. He feels better now and is prepared to go into the last stretch.
“Every week I’m just trying to keep getting better every week because I’m getting healthier, faster, and stronger every week,” Johnson stated on Tuesday night prior to Michigan’s game against Purdue on Saturday. I’m almost back to 100% right now since my knee feels fantastic.
Johnson considered the greater picture and the time of year—November—even though he would have like to be playing earlier in the season.
The 6-2, 202-pound player stated, “I think that was the reason I was sitting out, just trying to make sure I was ready for these games and the last stretch of the year.” “Just keep getting better and don’t go back at all, and I think I’m doing well right now. I think what I did in those first few games was good, and I think it helped me, and I’m still working to get in an even better position.
Amorion Walker, a converted wide receiver and sophomore cornerback for Michigan, sustained an injury during fall camp as well. He didn’t play until Nebraska’s fifth game week, but since then, his snap count has increased. The last time out, he played 23 defensive plays in a 49-0 victory against Michigan State, recording his first career pass breakup. Along with advancing up the depth chart, rookie DJ Waller Jr. also recorded a pass breakup against the Spartans.
Johnson thinks the two will keep getting better.
