Eddie Howe receives a communication from Amanda Staveley regarding his future at Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, has come under fire due to the team’s dismal run of play, with the Magpies winning just one of their past seven games across all competitions.
Despite a string of unsettling results, Eddie Howe has received assurances from Newcastle United’s owners that his position is secure.
Some have speculated that the Saudi Arabia-backed Toon is looking for a “big-name” manager to help take the aspirational team to the next level. It has coincided with a decline in their league performance and their elimination from both the Champions League and the Carabao Cup.
However, in the aftermath of their most recent setback—a loss at St. James’ Park against the lowly Nottingham Forest—and before their New Year’s Day match against Liverpool, co-owner Amanda Staveley stopped by the locker room to show her support and assure Howe that there is no pressure from the boardroom. The Newcastle management team is aware that their efforts to improve upon their fourth-place Premier League finish from the previous season have been hampered by a glut of injuries.
In light of this, Sunday Mirror can disclose that adjustments have been made behind the scenes to determine why the team has been plagued by injury issues all season long. In addition to forensic analysis of training routines, adjustments have been made to the physiotherapy unit.
In order to lessen the load on a severely injured team, Howe will also have support during the January transfer window as he attempts to add a new goalkeeper, a midfielder, and a striker. However, the club’s options are restricted due to Financial Fair Play regulations, with loan movements being given preference.
But as his rule over Tyneside moves into its third year, Howe remains very much in charge. Even after their trip to Anfield, his struggling team still has a demanding schedule because they have to go to Sunderland for their first away Tyne-Wear derby in seven years as part of the FA Cup third round.
The match that follows is an exciting home match against the defending champions, Manchester City. Howe stated on Friday, “They’re the games you relish, of course, but they’re tough games coming up.”
We’ve faced some really strong opponents in a number of those games this season, so I don’t believe that will scare us. Instead, we’ll attack and give it everything we’ve got. We’ve struggled with recent results and haven’t played at our best lately, so we’re motivated to turn things around and play our best football again.”
