After Chelsea defeated Luton Town, Stuart Pearce expressed shock at Cole Palmer’s transfer.
Cole Palmer is enjoying his time at Chelsea, which is something that hasn’t been stated much lately about players from that region.
Following Chelsea’s nerve-wracking 3-2 victory against Luton Town on Saturday, the 21-year-old is establishing himself as one of the top young players not only in the Premier League but throughout Europe.
Stuart Pearce declared that Cole Palmer, who scored a brace and provided an assist, is now Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino’s “best player” in an interview with Premier League Productions (30/12/23 at 8:20 pm).
The icy-cool midfielder, in the opinion of the former England defender, has also “repaid” Chelsea for the £43 million they paid Manchester City to buy him in the summer.
It was unexpected when Manchester City let go of the England U21 player, who had recently won the Treble and was regarded as one of their better prospects.
Even though Cole Palmer wasn’t likely to receive the many starts he desired, he was still logging enough minutes and working hard to establish himself as a regular for Pep Guardiola.
But Chelsea has gained what Manchester City lost, as Stuart Pearce seems taken aback by his former team’s decision to let the star go.
Pearce stated, “I think he has been head and shoulders their best player before the two goals today.”
“When Manchester City signed him. A few ideas immediately came to me. A) What was the price tag and the reason Manchester City let go of one of their talented young players? However, I’ll tell you what—in his six months so far, he has immediately paid back the purchase price. And the opening goal against Luton is a fantastic finish.
Cole Palmer excels once more for Chelsea.
There aren’t many Chelsea players who can raise their heads. Whether it is for performances directed by Pochettino or by Graham Potter.
Palmer, though, is one reliable man.
He has eight goals and four assists from his 17 Premier League games. Those are impressive stats, particularly for a squad that is ranked tenth in the Premier League.
Palmer-like players are needed if Chelsea is to take the league by storm or at the very least make it back to the Champions League.
