During Newcastle United’s Premier League match against Leeds United, supporters of the team stormed onto the field and into the Newcastle coaching area.
Against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon, Leeds wanted to win big to avoid being relegated. After just seven minutes, Luke Ayling handed Sam Allardyce’s team the lead, but a Callum Wilson penalty finally pulled one back for the opposition.
Wilson scored from 12 yards out again in the second half to give Newcastle the lead. With 79 minutes remaining, Rasmus Kristensen’s goal made it 2-2, giving Leeds a crucial point in their struggle to survive. But as the game was drawing to a close, something strange happened on the touchline.
A supporter made it from the bleachers to the Newcastle dugout and went up to Magpies manager Eddie Howe. The supporter then gave Howe a backhand and muttered something in his direction. The individual was then escorted out of the technical area by security, who included Howe’s assistant Jason Tindall in their pursuit. “What in the world is that guy doing?” exclaimed one. He ought to be barred from the country indefinitely!
One more tweeted: “What a bastard. After a few pints, another one, huge and hard. Another admirer stated, “This might have been worse.” The stewards were nowhere to be found. The man approaches the dugout with ease.
While a fifth person said, “Bodyguard too busy watching the game rather than doing his job!” another wrote, “The strangest thing is that the fourth official is the first to get over to them, not security or any of the Newcastle staff.” Former England player Stuart Pearce said on talkSPORT, “I’m not sure what goes through people’s minds at times. It’s an emotional game, I understand that but, my goodness, please.”
