The 18-year-old, who was originally from Gent, entered the Ajax Amsterdam junior system in 2021. He made an impression on the Dutch team’s youth division and has since been a regular player for the Jong Ajax squad.
Spurs have reportedly expressed interest in signing the Belgian after being pleased with his recent results in the Eerste Divisie.
According to Jacobs, who was speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Tottenham has been expressing a real interest in signing Muzambo and is preparing a formal offer to entice the 18-year-old to the recently refurbished White Hart Lane.
The reporter adds that the midfield player’s current Ajax contract is scheduled to expire after this season, therefore Spurs may decide to sign him permanently in January or try to sign him to a pre-contract agreement.
From Muzambo to Tottenham
But according to Jacobs, Sevilla has also been preparing a move for Muzambo, so the Lilywhites will have fierce competition from the Spanish team to complete any possible deal for the Belgian.
Jacobs stated:
“I believe Muzambo is the most solid because Spurs are assembling a proposal, but Sevilla is a competitor as well. and based on conversations with sources, it appears that Sevilla is now leading that race and might be a little more proactive.
Since I believe he will become a free agent in June regardless, there may be a pre-agreement or a sale in January. It appears to me that Muzambo will become an official proposal.
If Muzambo were to transfer to the recently refurbished White Hart Lane this season, he probably wouldn’t be able to crack Ange Postecoglou’s starting lineup anytime soon because he hasn’t played top-tier football for Ajax yet.
Thus, it appears that the young player is anticipated to be signed with an eye toward the long term, and he might be included in the young squad before to being acquired by the Spurs.
