Bayern Munich sends Harry Kane back to Tottenham open to shock Spurs return after twist
Tottenham News understands that Harry Kane would be open to making a return to the Premier League and rejoining his boyhood club this summer.
Kane left Spurs to join European giants Bayern Munich for an initial fee of £86million, which could rise to £100million with potential add-ons, a Bundesliga record (Sky Sports News, 13 August). On a personal level, he has shone in Germany, scoring 27 league goals and providing five assists in his first 23 Bundesliga appearances.
However, despite these incredible numbers, there is a good chance that Bayern and Kane could finish the season empty-handed, and the England captain’s wait for a first trophy could continue.
Bayer Leverkusen currently leads the way in the Bundesliga, with Xabi Alonso’s side unbeaten and eight points clear of Bayern, who have won the Bundesliga title for the last 11 seasons in a row. Meanwhile, in the UEFA Champions League, Bayern must come from behind after losing their round of 16 first-leg tie 1-0 against Lazio in Italy. As a result of these struggles, it was recently announced that Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern at the end of the season (BBC Sport, 21 February). Could Harry Kane make a return to Tottenham this summer?
With uncertainty swirling around the Allianz Arena, a recruitment source with close links to Spurs has revealed to Tottenham News that Kane would be open to rejoining the North London side this summer. The 30-year-old became Spurs’ record goalscorer last season when he netted his 267th goal for the club in a 1-0 win against Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 5 February 2023.
He is just 47 goals behind Alan Shearer in the all-time Premier League scoring charts and could look to chase down the legendary striker’s record by returning to England next season.
