After handing out most of the attention to Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese is now grabbing the spotlight away from her. Among those who have given the Chicago Sky star her flowers is no other than NFL legend and sports analyst Shannon Sharpe.
Reese had a standout collegiate career, first at the University of Maryland and then at Louisiana State University (LSU). As a highly touted recruit, Reese joined Maryland in 2020 but her freshman season was interrupted by a fractured right foot. She bounced back as a sophomore, earning third-team All-American honors from the Associated Press.
he forward then transferred to LSU for her junior season in 2022-23. She had a dominant year, being named a unanimous first-team All-American and leading the Tigers to their first NCAA championship. Reese was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament after setting the single-season records for double-doubles and rebounds in the SEC.
As a senior in 2023-24, Reese was named SEC Player of the Year and a second-team All-American. She capped off her college career with numerous accolades, including being a two-time first-team All-American and SEC All-Defensive Team selection.
Reese’s stellar college performance led to her being selected 7th overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft. At the international level, she won a silver medal with the U.S. national team at the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.
